Don’t Ask Me To Wear Your Mask

All my life I have tried to become what others wanted me to be,
And it the process of it all, I lost me,
I tried to be accepted, wanted and love,
But I know that only comes from above.

You say oh, we want you to be a part,
But do it without sharing the truth in my heart.
Just be silent and pretend and we will let you in,
But in doing so, it's a lie, which is a sin.

My heart is heavy, my prayers are long,
No matter what I say it seems to be wrong,
I will never be able to do what you ask,
So, please don't ask me to wear your mask.
