 ramblings and things

I wanted to buy a wig stand
you know for the wife's best hair,
looked around locally
couldn't find one anywhere,
saw this 0800 number
thought I'd give it a try
(prefer talking to e mail
if you need to know why)
this polite voice answered,
didn't listen to what he had to say
just heard the scouse accent
and the years just rolled away.

me and Ronnie Hatchard,
first scouser I ever met,
there on a leafy sussex lane
getting soaking wet
sitting in a dyke in water
having such a profound talk
‘cos the cider had got our legs
and we just couldn't walk;
so we solved the world's problems
until our legs came back on again
then arm in arm we staggered
on down that leafy sussex lane.

not seen Ronnie for over40 years
one aitch of a good mate;
still remember that night's fun
and staggering through the camp gate.
and the bloke on the 0800 number
sold me two wig stands for the wife
and his cheery scouse banter
brought back a good part of my life.
that leafy lane's now housing \\\\\\
and no there will ever know
about the night me and scouse hatchard
solved most of the world's woes
