The Backyard Of My Life

Edge Of The Night

Standing on the edge of the night
Waiting for the dawn to break
Surrounded by the blue light
Not so sure how much more i can take
Of this cold white winter
Its a long long lonely dark road

Crawling on the corner of a ghost town
Looking for a sign in a shop window
On the steps sleeping lies a drunken clown
With his head and his dreams buried deep in the snow

When your high on a ledge
Holding on to the edge of night
Hoping for the shadows to slowly disappear
Praying everything will be alright

Stranded on the edge of the night
Cutting right through you like a razor blade
Dancing under the red light
Counting up the money she made
Throwing it all away in the wind
Lost in the city streets tonight

Drifting softly with time to pledge
Carrying the weight of the edge of the night
When your heart is broken and your dreams are frayed
In the morning everything will be alright

Walking into the edge of the night
Life ain't no fairy tale lullaby
Restless with who's wrong and who's right
When you wipe away those tears you cry
Like a river running wild
There's too many twists and turns
Sitting here in silence on the edge of the night
