We have a treasure in clay jars,
Showing of the passing hour;
That erases all of the scars,
For salvation to empower.
We are troubled throughout each day,
Yet we are not crushed or perplexed;
Though afflicted since I obey,
I cannot be down or reflexed.
I am not driven to despair,
Persecuted or forsaken;
For I know that the Lord does care,
Causing my soul to awaken.
Maybe struck down but not destroyed,
Always carrying until death;
Manifested that is employed,
Giving me life with a new breath.
Because we who live are always,
Being given over to death;
For the sake of Christ no one strays,
Who has been given a new breath.
Death is at work in all of us,
But Jesus is alive in you;
Mortal flesh manifests as thus,
The Holy Spirit remains true.
Since we have faith in the same Spirit,
For I believe and so I speak;
We believe in our merit,
For in the truth that we will seek.
Knowing that God who raised the Lord,
Will also raise us to be with Him;
As we remain in one accord,
Adversities makes us not grim.
For it is all for our sake,
So that none of us will lose heart;
For there is a day we awake,
In Heaven a new life to start.
The outer self, wastes away,
As all of the old that has been;
Inner self renewed day by day,
By all things that have been unseen.
