The Hand-Off

With hands up, head down
Knees pinned to the ground
Eyes closed as tears fall
No words, no call
Heavy heart cries out
One name, it shouts
Jesus, Jesus takes a hold
It's all yours, I'm letting go
As you hold me, you hold this too
Nothing is too big for you
You are not surprised or overwhelmed
Take control, you have the helm
Right the ship, calm the sea
Speak a word and comfort me
Since before the beginning of time
You saw this situation of mine
Whether self-inflicted, or enemy attacks
I carried this burden on my back
Knowing I was not up to the task
Yet waited patiently for me to ask
Sorry Holy Spirit for taking so long
And trying to do this on my own
This same mistake I've made before
I found myself making one more
But lovingly, kindly, longsuffering too
You guard my heart as I stumble through
Now under the weight I bend my knees
Look up from despair and ask you please
Take this thing troubling me
And remind me of my victory
