Harry Sweeden. My life in verse.

A love to earn
I have searched the world for someone to love
And for that someone to truly love me…
Never in my dreams I thought I’d be the one
To never know what love really means.
I have kissed so many beautiful women…
Indulged in all that they knew
I have reached such heights i would have been happy to die there
But I never knew that none of it was true.
All I ever needed was a shoulder to lean on
While my spirit fought the turmoil within
Somewhere I could cry and not feel I’m broken
As my mind did battle with sin.
Most days I woke alone having survived my night demons
To rise up and face the brave world once again
The road that I chose was never a clear path
But I did know that all roads lead to pain.
I always tried to blend in with my surroundings
But in truth having nowhere to hide
My pride and my choices leading to ever more disasters
But in truth to myself I just lied.
Now I realise in truth I never knew what love was
And never knew what love was in return
But as everything in life some things you fight for…
But love… you simply have to earn.
