they read and made their choice
of which desert gospels
would be given a voice
those that didn't quite fit
with the chosen orthodox way
were destroyed or hidden
from the light of day
and they created an edifice
of power and control
by using the threat
of losing the immortal soul
now they wear their rich robes
Preach poverty and charity
Sit on vast amounts of wealth
Accepting the disparity
Of their privilege and power
In this creed of the modern day
Of don't do as I do
but Just do as I say.
Would The writers of those gospels
Recoil with contempt and loathing
At the twisting of their beliefs by
these wolves in sheep's clothing
