It's time I ran a workshop.
I do it once in a while.
I've got a bit of experience
And plenty of style,
A commanding presence
And a loud voice
And when it comes to words
I'm seldom lost for choice.
Now here comes
The really cunning bit
They'll all have to pay
For a place on it.
Some of those that attend,
Some of those I like,
May be given a short spot
In the following Open Mic.
It may seem a bit strange
But seems to be the norm
That aspiring performers
Have to pay to perform.
And if they work hard
And publicise what they do
There's a chance, in time, they
Can run their own workshop too.
It's a funny old world
Don't you just know it
When you get established as
A known performance poet.
