This poem was not written by me
but by someone very close to my heart
and I think it deserves to be published
TRAPPED IN BLACK
Chasing for the happy times
The thoughts of darkness fill your mind
Trapped inside your own head
Isolated, no words are said.
Looking for the reasons why
Inside you breakdown and cry
A smile for all, you have to try
When inside you know it's just a lie.
When the darkness comes it covers all
There is nothing you can do at all
It takes away your very soul
Further in the hole you crawl.
The fight inside is a constant one
The silent battle carries on
Wanting help, there is no one
The torment just continues on.
Locked inside with thoughts of black
No strength at all you can't fight back
Like a boxer`s punch it leaves you flat
And you wait for your minds next black attack.
You gift yourself with private rage
Desperate to unlock the cage
To free the black and release the rage
For brighter colours to fill the page.
Further you fall from the social norm
Avoiding a life you no longer conform
You keep them away but they mean you no harm
An strangely you turn to the black for the warm.
The darkness appears in shades of light
It tricks you and grabs you and pulls you inside
Helpless you allow it and give up the fight
And once again you're surrounded by night.
Consumed by despair and total dread
This isn't a life would you feel better dead?
Thoughts to end it are too extreme
But this nightmare's your life it's not a bad dream.
When the colours arrive it feels so good
The darkness has gone so let the light flood
You feel lighter and happy and smile with friends
But the darkness is waiting to get you again.
