Lockdown

Corona virus,
Invisibly to the naked eye
Marching across the world
From China
Telling us perhaps
 Nature is both friend
And enemy.

Or, perhaps
Mankind's insatiable curiosity,
Arrogance, and complacency,
Opened a Pandora's Box
Of death and destruction
Manufacturing
That which they must now
Learn to destroy
Or tolerate.

The deaths mount up.
Waiting and wondering,
Will this be my obituary
I wash my hands,
Smile at my fellow beings,
But only from a distance,
Through glass
Or across the Ethernet
I am in lockdown.
