We are the Veterans Centre volunteers
Each one damaged in their own way
But we help each other's with problems
And we're there every single day.
We don't help heroes, a misused word
We help fellow veterans just to survive:
For some of our colleagues it's a
Victory to just still be alive.
The door is always open
A cup of NATO standard free
With the invitation to
Just drop in and see.
We can advise on most problems
Or if it's only for a chat
Well come on in colleague
We're all pretty good at that.
Sometimes it's like the NAAFI,
Or maybe the corporals' mess
Or maybe a yarning session
With odd sins to confess.
We scrape by on bucket collection
And we never turn a colleague away
And we're fighting and we're winning
Brothers and sisters this Centre's here to stay,
