O God, You are my God,
Earnestly I seek you;
My soul thirsts for to laud,
My mind faints to construe.
A dry and weary land,
Water unavailable;
I look for Your command,
Worthy and feasible.
I look in Your chancel,
For Your power and glory;
In need of Your counsel,
Clear up the mystery.
Because Your steadfast love,
Is much better than life;
My lips praise you thereof,
Through the toils and strife.
For as long as I live,
I will lift up my hands;
Knowing You did forgive,
Defying Your demands.
My soul is satisfied,
With plump and juicy food;
And I will now abide,
Giving me a good mood.
I praise with joyful lips,
Remember You in bed;
Meditation that grips,
As my heart being fed.
For You have been my aid,
The shadow of Your wings;
I will not be afraid,
The soothing peace, it brings.
For I will sing for joy,
Since my soul clings to You;
Blocks those who will destroy,
Faithfulness that is true.
All shall rejoice in God,
For they swear to exalt;
Mouths of liars are flawed,
With the taste of bad salt.
