Here it comes again
The waves crashing into me
Like at high tide at night
There is nothing I can do
To stop this from happening
Can the tide fight the moon
When it's at its waxing height?

The burning ache starts small
in the fingertips
and runs into every joint
as in the sunset
when the water washes
Sandcastles away
coming close to rocky points..

The pain starts squeezing tight
Down my back
Through every tiny bone
My fever rising high
Like the water
Splashes 'round my ankles
Until it slaps my thighs..

The sun has left
To say goodbye
The Azure blanket thrown
Twinkling from Earth
To sky upon High..

With quiet breathing
These things I think
To distract the screams inside
Heaven
Is why I will wait
Until I've been called by name..
So, creativity is what I've got
To mask the ongoing pain..
