the skies are cleared
birds can see their way
to distant destinations
no longer schnuffling along
coughing on pollution
its a whole clean new life
without human interference
people pestilence
nor petulance
--they can hope
river salmon run faster
momentarily unimpeded by the temptation
of a dancing lure
they brave the surface
unafraid and sure
only worrying about bears and birds
moutains rise majestic
knowing confidently now
they are seen
for 100 miles or more
what is a spectable for
but to be noticed
the clouds gather around
the regular kind
and not the smoky ones usually found
in huge cities
the sort who seed themselves with real rain
and who pour it down upon the quieted earth
again and again
its all a sort of quieting calm
an unnatural rebirth
but will humans recognize the worth
in this all
now that they're preoccupied
and resettled back into town
where they're all sheltered and tamped down
could they finally know
what its been like for the rest of the
natural world
under seige and
under human rule?
