Competition

I don't enter Poetry completions
They seem to create a situation
Where a self appointed judge c
Can destroy another's creation.
For poetry, like any form of art
Is a matter of personal choice
And such stated opinions could
Still an emerging developing voice.

It is surely an expression of ego
That an acquired personal taste
 can destroy another's allusions
And maybe cause a talent to waste.
We can't all be a Shakespeare
An Elliott, a Thomas Mann
But should quietly be encouraged,
To produce the best we can.

If nobody likes my poetry
Then that's just fine
It's the honest sweat of my brow
And every single word is mine
No,  I don't enter poetry competitions,
It's not fame and fortune thst I seek
I, just like so many other folk, ask
To be allowed to let my words speak.
