I teach and urge these things.
If another doctrine taught;
Agrees not with what Christ brings,
Of godliness that is sought.
For sound words comes from the Lord,
Teaching that grants godliness;
For being in one accord,
Assuring His blessedness.
Some have been puffed up with pride,
Conceited but knows nothing;
Controversy craves inside,
Quarrels about words doting.
It produces jealousy,
That is turning into strife;
Evil suspicious envy,
Dissension corrupts their life.
Perverse disputes cause friction,
Those who are depraved in mind;
For it is an addiction,
That makes them stubborn and blind.
They are deprived of the truth,
That godliness helps you gain;
Causing them to be uncouth,
For changing makes them feel pain.
Godliness is contentment,
Contentment is a great gain;
Not having a resentment,
No conflicts within the brain.
We brought nothing from the womb,
Naked is how we came here;
Nothing taken in the tomb,
Losing all that we held dear.
If we have clothing and food,
With these we will be content;
Not causing us to be rude;
Need not complain or lament.
But those who desire wealth,
Fall into a temptation;
Will lose their spiritual health,
Finds eternal damnation.
Love of money is the root,
Of many kinds of evil;
The craving of the sweet fruit,
Like Eve heeds to the devil.
