The Backyard Of My Life
Broken Bells In The Atomic City
Where did we go wrong
When did we stop dreaming for fear
Why is our freedom not really free
We gave it all away down at liberty street
To the media money and machines
How did we forget how we all used to live
Ashes to ashes in the flames we forgive
While they Force Feed us lies and hope that we don't think
You know i know you poisoned the well where we drink
The streets are empty all the love has gone
At the two tallest towers the transmission is done
They finally froze over hell
Children cry at the sound of the broken bells
From out of nowhere in the atomic city
Its so sad to see the blind leading the blind
Man in the strangle hold of death
You only ever notice when your down at the bottom
Plastic people all caught up in a landslide
Id rather die in my footsteps
Then to hide underground
Look my enemy in the eyes
When the time comes around
If the light of the world burns out
You know where I'll be
I'll be down by the river watching the sun roll in
Up on top of a mountain where the sky lark sing
Thought police try to tell us
What we can say how to feel where we can go
Knowledge and wisdom are things we don't need to know
Up in smoke a mushroom cloud
Takes out half of the old town
Any one left alive with any sense
Is told to keep quiet so they don't disturb the peace
Watching the world outside abandoned
Will artificial intelligence save us or replace us?
Id rather die with dignity
With my head held high
If the odds are against me still determined to try
Remember what we all came here for
Maybe tomorrow we can stop building bombs
Maybe today could make up for yesterday
Then our children wont have to hear
The sound of the broken bells in the atomic city
