The Morals We Live By
The Morals We Live By
Author: Mark V. Markov
The morals we live by
All come, all come
From the word of God
To be a human being
With good morals
To be a law a abiding citizen
Is not to murder
Not to steal
Not to testify falsely against someone
Not to covet and take from somebody
But to work for everything
That you desire in life.
And to be a good steward
Of a job given to you.
Not to commit adultery
But to be faithful in marriage.
To honor your father and mother.
All good morals we live by
Come from the word of God.
To treat another
As you wanna be treated
That golden rule is in the Bible
Mentioned by God the Father
And the Lord Jesus Christ
The morals we live by
All come, all come
From the word of God
To be a human being
With good morals
To be a law a abiding citizen
Is not to murder
Not to steal
Not to testify falsely against someone
Not to covet and take from somebody
But to work for everything
That you desire in life.
And to be a good steward
Of a job given to you.
Not to commit adultery
But to be faithful in marriage.
To honor your father and mother.
But to live by those morals
And not give credit
When credit is due
Is a great error.
To think that there is no God
And yet live by the commandments
And by His instruction
Is very foolish on the part
Of those that don't believe.
And even to say "oh my God"
All the time
And yet deny Him existing
Is not very bright indeed
The morals we live by
All come, all come
From the word of God
To be a human being
With good morals
To be a law a abiding citizen.
Is not to murder
Not to steal
Not to testify falsely against someone
Not to covet and take from somebody
But to work for everything
That you desire in life.
And to be a good steward
Of a job given to you.
Not to commit adultery
But to be faithful in marriage.
To honor your father and mother...
Matthew 7:7-12 English Standard Version (ESV)
Ask, and It Will Be Given
7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek,
and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds,
and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?
11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
The Golden Rule
12 "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them,
for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Luke 6:31 English Standard Version (ESV)
31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
Matthew 22:39-40 English Standard Version (ESV)
39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."
Mark 12:31 English Standard Version (ESV)
31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
There is no other commandment greater than these."
Romans 13:8-9 English Standard Version (ESV)
Fulfilling the Law Through Love
8 Owe no one anything, except to love each other,
for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
9 For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder,
You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment,
are summed up in this word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Galatians 5:14 English Standard Version (ESV)
14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word:
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
The Ten Commandments
Exodus 20:1-25 (ESV)
1 And God spoke all these words, saying,
2 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
3 "You shall have no other gods before me.
4 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image,
or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the water under the earth.
5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them,
for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,
6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain,
for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.
On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter,
your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock,
or the sojourner who is within your gates.
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them,
and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
13 "You shall not murder.
14 "You shall not commit adultery.
15 "You shall not steal.
16 "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's."
18 Now when all the people saw the thunder and the flashes of lightning and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking,
the people were afraid and trembled, and they stood far off
19 and said to Moses, "You speak to us, and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, lest we die."
20 Moses said to the people, "Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you,
that you may not sin."
21 The people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.
Laws About Altars
22 And the Lord said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the people of Israel:
'You have seen for yourselves that I have talked with you from heaven.
23 You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
24 An altar of earth you shall make for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen.
In every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and bless you.
25 If you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stones, for if you wield your tool on it you profane it.
Hebrews 4:13 (ESV)
And no creature is hidden from his sight,
but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
