Wild Card
She preferred wild card to joker, rather something agreed upon.
What you don't know can't hurt anyone, when no one ever tells.
She was a valued partner, kept hidden and held in secret
She bluffs with confidence, a poker faced harlequin.
She refused being jester-like or feeling vaguely disreputable.
She refused to be the joke. She would not allow it.
His wife never knew or ever suspected
why there was always a fourth for card games.
She nearly rapped her knuckle raw. She was always a trick ahead.
The deck was usually set, red or black, and stacked in her favor.
With all the cheating under the table, betting against the house
and bottom of the deck dealing; it's a wonder the game had lasted so long.
Everyone bit a lip and no one ever told.
Under that cloud of smoke, her deal went on.
