An American Trilogy
Friends I come before you today
Sad and humbled
For my country
That is suffering
A tragic rumble
My sadness you ask
The hate and discontent
The injustices suffered
All the evil intent
Let me explain
So you all will know
I was born in Virginia
and in Louisa I did grow
We are a proud people
That value what came before
I'm proud of my roots
And until now I had no score
Yes in Dixieland
It was my home
I made my start
My love will never roam
We value our history
And learned from mistakes
But I fear what's happening now
There will be no retakes
I will fight for her
Until my last breath
But thanks to my pen
My words go beyond my death
How can those sit in silence
I will never understand
Why they are afraid
To take a firm stand
How can they not know
Our existence is in danger
History to be forgotten
Our land to be a stranger
Our history being lost
Our pride is not a shame
While we still can look back
And see from where we came
I ask God to forgive us
And give us the strength
To protect who we are
And carry us the length
Our Truth Must March On
I fly these crossed flags
as a sign of unity not opposition
A unity that I pray
our country will one day know.

ღ God asked me how long I planned on keeping you in my life.
I smiled and said...
How do I choose between always and forever...
But then I have found that's really not up to me... ღ
