Midnight Madness

When darkness falls but bring no sleep;
When peril lurks in shadows deep;
When tingles race up your spine to chill
When the night is silent and utterly still.

When your heart leaps at each unexpected sound;
When you shudder in fright from a baying hound;
When the moon rises pale and ghostly white
Shedding pallid glow, but little light.

Then forces of darkness flood our realm
Then light and goodness they overwhelm.
Then chains restraining madness shatter;
Then logic and reason no longer matter.

Then ready yourself with more than a gun;
Then pray you last till the morning sun.
For those who are slain by midnight ghoul
Remain forever their unwilling tool.
