Poetic Verses

Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind

Out of sight and out of mind
The past is left behind
A time, a place, a someone
That's been and now is done

Now surpassed all usefulness
Or have surrendered youthfulness,
In the mind of one left here,
Justified, no longer dear

No expression of lasting sorrow
Upon awakening on the morrow
Forge ahead each new day
With only self on display

How can the years not reflect
Any emotion to detect
A simple tear, the heart to break
Devoid of all within its wake

I only hope, deep in my soul,
Your lack of feeling makes you whole;
For when I pass and you are left
Will you ever feel bereft

Or out of sight and out of mind
The past is left behind
A time, a place, a someone
That's been and now is done

7/12/20

An observation of family after a death and feeling saddened by the lack of sympathy and emotion.
