The Bankers Of England

Oh the economy may be failing
Growth at a negative rate
But fear not Old England
They'll  juggle the LIBOR Rate
For the Bankers of England
Are toiling day by day
And the Bankers of England
By and large earn their pay

Working with the markets
Setting up interest  rates
Receiving the odd tip off from
Their Stock Market mates
And if they make a cock up
No need to fuss or shout
For their mates in the Treasury
Will surely bail them out

For  the Bankers of England
Bad judgement isn't a crime
No need to fuss or worry
Bankers in England don't do time.
And when in due course they
Reach their retirement day
Pensions and Golden Handshakes
Will help them on their way

And then there are the companies
Who offer  seats on their Boards
And in the fullness of time maybe
Seats in the House of Lords
After lives  of toil and hard work
Every single working day
Some  of those Bankers prove
That crime can sometimes  pay

Oh the Bankers of England
Never ever cook the books
But past experience shows
Some are just unpunished crooks
But the Bankers of Iceland
Know they'd better not fail
They may hold them to account
And send them off to jail
