Lament for Sara

4/28/2006

Nothing I say
can be right
Nothing I say
Can be heard
for the poison
of hatred
of hurt
in her soul.
How can I
have compassion
for the one
who rages against
the illusion
I represent
not a reality
as she would
have told.

Beloved how
can we heal
such hurt?
How can I
be compassionate
in the face
of my attacker's
fury?

How do we win?
How is it possible
Goddess to
heal a wound
I did not
inflict?

The conflict
lies in an
interior world.

Truth be told
this is true
for us all,
when we rage
against others,
when others
rage against
us...

Grant me the grace
to melt such
conflict in its place.

Grant me the
compassion to
not return hatred's
favor,
but find and replace
peace in its place.

Grant me enough
love not to take
offence in the
first place,
but grant me your
forgiveness
if I fail and
join in her pain
and poison my
own heart with anger.

Forgive me,
Forgive her,
Forgive us all.
