Creation Myth

On the last day of his creation
The mixture wasn't right
So Manitou first made a man
Undercooked, insipid and white
At his second attempt
The temperature was wrong
So he created the black man
From being cooked for far long.

The third attempt was perfect
On that creation  morn
And so from this last effort
The noble Red man was born.
He gave the cold lands to the first
To the second the hot lands as home
And to the noble redman gave
The American plains to roam.
