On Assignment

There are Angels on assignment…
The Bible tells us so.
But it, also, tells us we’re to spread
The Gospel where we go.

With God’s help I witness with
These anointed words of rhyme…
This is my assignment…
The Spirit helps me write each line.

 The inspiration comes to me
In many different ways…
A lot comes from the preacher man
Whose sermons are ablaze

With truth so hot it burns a hole
Through the hottest place in Hell…
And I like to think I’m adding to
That hellish hole as well.

God puts us on assignment…
Yes, you, as well as I.
We’ve a mission to accomplish…
We have a purpose to live by.

Love your God with all your heart
Isn’t just a metaphor.
It carries a commandment
That should reach us at the core.

 Love your neighbor as yourself
Could not have been more clear…
Jesus proved it at The Cross…
Could love be more sincere?

So let’s take our assignments
As top priority today.
And give thanks to our Creator
For each assignment sent our way.
