O Heaven and on earth, give ear,
Listen for the Lord has spoken;
Children that He has reared must hear,
Left His commandments be broken.
They rebelled and not understand,
Like an ox knowing his owner;
They think not of the demand,
As the children from their Father.
A people with iniquity,
The offspring of evildoers;
Children who have dealt corruptly,
Being transgression pursuers.
For they have forsaken the Lord,
They have despised the Holy One;
Which is causing such a discord,
Utterly estranged has been done.
Why will you still be striking down,
Why you continue to rebel;
Wonder not why you wear a frown,
Your soul to Satan that you sell.
Because your whole head has been sick,
As well as your heart has been faint;
The pathways you decide to pick,
Are so free and without restraint.
From the feet even to the head,
There have been no soundness in it;
Only sores and bruises have fed,
The raw wounds come from your merit.
Your country lying desolate,
As your cities burned with fire;
No longer as immaculate,
Results from shameful desire.
Foreigners devour your land,
It is desolate, overthrown;
And have gotten the upper hand,
By taking all in which you own.
The daughter has left like a booth,
Like a lodge in a besieged city;
Because she could not bear the truth,
That no one would take some pity.
The Lord of Hosts had never left,
A small remnant of survivors;
Like to Sodom which had bereft,
Rather repent as revivers.
