I  Need To Fly

coming at night
on dark webbed wings
fluttering before my eyes
I see their shadows
they are darker than the night
like India ink

to make them leave
I blink
but they are steadfast
and hungry
maybe even greedy
I know they need me
to survive

outside the blips of light
wink and wander
Do those far away eyes see me
see how it is to be
surrounded
but wishing mostly to be alone

my hand in the palm of the sandman
sowing the soothing seeds he sows
guiding me far and away
how I long for oblivion
and the blink and nod
and not this judging
bowl of God

mercy, my secret meal
give me its thinly papered host
and glass of grape
seal me up in the awaiting
aluminum pod
and catapult me into my sky

the world is too much with me
and the weight is
inside
and I
I need to fly.
