WHEN WE DOCKED ON THE OTHER SIDE THE RIVER

When we sailed along the warry ocean
Full of strives none can compare
When we saw the foaming stirs
Wild and high and tumbling drear
When we heard the rumbling stirs
Of the waves that our hearts beat
When we leaped to foot to get
The stern up the billow's eye
When we stumbled oft upon greasy seas
Swimming sometimes up and in
When we crossed the years that made us
Think and forget little things
When we failed but still clung there
Then we reached a little spate
Of a land above the tall grip
Of a rising ever shore
When we docked on the other side the river
We were glad forevermore.
