I thank Jesus who gives me strength, Our Lord who is faithful and just; For persevering at any length, Against the temptation and lust. For I had been a blasphemer, Persecutor and opponent; Never thought as a redeemer, And Son of the Omnipotent. But His mercy I did receive, For my ignorant unbelief; The salvation for I believe, Giving a spiritual relief. The grace of the Lord overflows, For faith and love that are in Christ; Because of the fact that He knows, If earthly pleasures have enticed. For the saying is trustworthy, Deserving of full acceptance; Easy to follow His decree, To remain in His compliance. Jesus came to save the sinners, Of whom I am of the foremost; For making us all as winners, As part of the heavenly host. I received mercy and His grace, Displaying His perfect patience; As I sojourn within this place, And has told me through my conscience. To the King of all the ages, The God of glory and honor; Who is slow to wrath and rages, Has been guiding me a fawner. For this charge that I do entrust, In accordance with prophecy; The warfare that battles the lust, The Lord will give insight to see. Holding faith and a good conscience, Learning not to blaspheme the Lord; Keep His spiritual acceptance, For remaining in one accord. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
