He who struck down the firstborn, For His steadfast love endures; We continue to sojourn, As His steadfast love assures. Bringing us out among them, Love that endures forever; Not repented will condemn, A love that will not sever. A strong hand and outstretched arm, His mercy and grace endures; A compassion keeps from harm, Detours you from any lures. He divided a sea in two, His love endures forever; Assists as you will pursue, Succeed what you endeavor. He made you pass through the thick, His steadfast love endures; Curing you when you are sick, When you are praying for cures. He overthrew queens and kings, Such love endures forever; As for what corruption brings, The wrath of God will sever. The Lord has led His people, Guiding through the wilderness; As His love fills the temple, Blessings to those who confess. He who has struck down great kings, A steadfast love eternal; That causes a death that stings, Burning in an infernal. The slaughter of mighty kings, Love endures forevermore; For mercy and grace that clings, Causes the love to outpour. A land for a heritage, A love as everlasting; A privileged advantage, To those praying and fasting. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
