Hope that You Know
I've been sequestered, set aside.
Just hope that you know, I didn't just run & hide.
I've been forced to be alone & swallow my pride,
Just hope that you know, I miss you & I am alive.
Though, without you, it sure does feel like I've died.
No matter what all I do, or how much harder I try,
None of it matters, because it seems I never get it right.
Should've never had so much time go by without you in my life.
You're growing up without me by your side.
All I've ever wanted, I've had to leave behind.
Just hope that you know, you're always on my mind.
Left with only the memories I had of you in my mind,
Because, I was not with you for reasons you'll find.
Just hope that you know, I wasn't given the time.
Life isn't something that you can rewind,
But, if I could, I would because the world is so unkind.
I keep telling myself that everything will be fine,
But, it isn't & won't be, not until I can find,
A way to have me in your life and you in mine.
Just hope that you know, I am not the one lyin,
Someone else has kept our conversations silent.
Just hope that you know, I was done with the violence.
Just hope that you know,
Love is a word that, for us, has been left undefined,
And, that no part of my absence was by my design.
I hope that you hear me, I hope that you know,
You've heard stories put in a way that they did not go.
Love can sometimes hurt but, should never have hurt you so.
