When the Burch trees down the lane of old
Lose their leaves as they turn gold-
And the wind it blows as winter unfolds

And the landscapes are rearranging
Most of our old friends are strangers

When crystal diamonds of frozen dew
Hang from the Burch trees icey blue-
And smoke now drifts from our stove flue

Grow again along our favorite stream

And only the moon on high provides some light
