To walk by the Spirit, You will not gratify; Of immoral merit, The lusts that satisfy. For fleshy desires, Are against the Spirit; That evil acquires, An ungodly merit. If led by the Spirit, Then not under the Law; Which is to your credit, Be without a flaw. Fleshy works manifest, Fornication in life; Of sexual conquest, Anger which causes strife. Jealousy or envy, Idolatry or hatred; Witchcraft or sorcery, Evil thoughts in your head. Things like these I warn you, Told to you in the past; Wickedness to construe, Feels a fiery blast. The fruit of the Spirit, Is love, joy, and peace; That you will inherit, A life that will not cease. Patience and faithfulness, Kindness and self-control; Goodness and gentleness, That satisfies the soul. Those belonging to Christ, The flesh is crucified; Passions not be enticed, Your past is rectified. By the Spirit to live, No longer by a lust; Salvation as to give, If having faith and trust. Let us then keep in step, With the Spirit to walk; His glory gives us pep, Through the prayers that we talk. Become not conceited, Provoking each other; Rather all be treated, Like sister and brother. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
