I call my rock not to be deaf, For if You be silent to me; I may be going without breath, In the pit where I cannot see. Hear my voice with my mercy pleas, I cry for You to render aid; Asking that the burdens to ease, Someplace where I am not afraid. Drag me not off with the evil, With the wicked of evil deeds; Who spoke of peace with the devil, In catering unto his needs. Give them according to their acts, The evil works done with their hands; What immorality attracts, That lures away from Your commands. They disregard works of the Lord, Tear them down to build up no more; And their confession be ignored, For it is Satan they adore. Blessed be You who hears my voice, As I plea for mercy and grace; I shall continue to rejoice, While feeling of Your embrace. You are my strength also my shield, And in You my heart and soul trust; Your commandments that I do yield, For blocking any tempting lust. My heart exults and with my song, That I sing giving thanks to You; For with You I know I belong, Because You are faithful and true. You are the strength of your people, For You are the saving refuge; Those who worship in Your temple, You have anointed a deluge. Save Your people from the demise, Bless them with Your inheritance; As their shepherd noble and wise, Teaching them with obedience. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
