Watch for the evil doers, Also beware of the dogs; For the fleshy pursuers, That are eating like the hogs. The flesh that they mutilate, We are the circumcision; For with God we emulate, Worship as we envision. Worship the Spirit of God, Glory to Jesus the Christ; Rejoicing while you laud, Let no flesh to be enticed. Though I myself have reason, In the flesh with confidence; For on the cross hung the Son, That God was the evidence. Circumcised on the eighth day, A Hebrew as to the Law; One that was sent to obey, That was perfect without flaw. Persecutor of the church, Righteousness under the Law; Concerning zeal in a search, A healer of faith who call. But whatever gain I had, I had counted as a loss; There was joy in being sad, Because I gain from the cross. All things I count are a loss, Because of surprising worth; Knowing my Lord on the cross, Has given me a new birth. For His sake I have suffered, Complete loss of everything; The gain is Christ has buffered, With salvation it will bring. The power of resurrection, And fellowship of distress; His death in the direction, I might attain righteousness. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
