O Lord, You are my God, I always exalt you; As I honor and laud, Being faithful and true. You did wonderful things, Your plans were formed of old; With the goodness it brings, Reveal ages unfold. The city made a heap, Fortified walls destroyed; While foreigners sleep, Totally null and void. The strong will glorify, Ruthless nations will fear; Your name to magnify, The humble will revere. For You are a stronghold, Strength to poor and needy; More precious than the gold, As held by the greedy. A shelter from the storm, And a shade from the heat; From the cold made me warm, You made my life complete. You have subdued the noise, Shade from heat with a cloud; As a song bringing joys, Unto the righteous crowd. For up on the mountain, The Lord prepares a feast; Wine flows from a fountain, For You are our priest. You shall swallow up death, As You wipe our tears; Life never losing breath, Comforting our fears. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
