Taking Up Alley Living

he's a little minx
and wears his striped suit
with pride
no jail could hold him
he is
the escape artist

but oh how I want him

lithe and light on his feet
how he loves to dance
and play the way
a child does

and my hear beats harder
and the smile I wear
wraps around my face like
a scarf does

but he's wildfire
and orange delight
and eyes that shimmer impishly
in the flickering last light

its not easy
to hold onto him
so sleek he is
with moves so smooth
and no words to speak
but lots of catting around

one minute I think
we're talking
and the next he's a ghost-
gone

his shadows shifts shedding
nary a splinter
and I think he's the most
sweet boy I've seen in awhile
I'd even hang with him outside
despite this cold winter

if I had a bushy tail
I'd make him my boyfriend
and take up alley-living.
