‘Are you awake’? A kiss goodnight, a hug, ‘sleep tight’, A squeeze for Christmas Eve, Sleep escaping, heartbeat racing, ‘Love me, love me, please’.
A lover's light, a subtle glow, A candle here at my elbow, A gentle hand that strayed my way, Lips that whisper 'Are you awake’?
A slip awry, a loving tease, Now gone all thoughts of counting sheep, The eyes that tantalize my mind, What joy you bring to candlelight.
Sleep disturbed for want of love, Might be too late, it's two o'clock? But no, the hour is never late, For lucky lips, 'Are you awake’?.
