If someone teaches a doctrine, That does not agree with sound words; Has no godliness discipline, And having not been good stewards. They are puffed up with much conceit, Knowing and understanding nothing; As their words are full of deceit, Controversy that it will bring. Questions causing strife with envy, Dissension evil suspicions; As corrupted minds disagree, Renders immoral ambitions. Constant friction being depraved, Among people deprived of truth; Godliness a means to be saved, Never to be rude or uncouth. Godliness is feeling great gain, We brought nothing to this world; And we take nothing but the pain, Into the ground where we are hurled. But if we have clothing and food, With these we will have contentment; Which will give a good attitude, And never having resentment. But those with having desire, To be rich fall to temptation; Will be in a pit of fire, Or in the lake of damnation. Many foolish and hurtful lust, Plunge people into destruction; They are drowning in their distrust, As a product of seduction. The love of money is a root, Of the many kinds of evil; Enticing by delicious fruit, From the luring of the devil. This craving causes to wander. From faith and piercing with sorrow; No longer able to ponder, What the fate will be tomorrow. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
