NEVER UNDERESTIMATE CALM

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE CALM

Never try and step into water that is still
For you will get far more than just a chill,
You would get quite a shock I would think
As I am more than sure that you would sink.

If there are ripples then you could be fine
As that would surely be a much better sign,
It means that the water can be quite shallow
Learn this fact and you will be less callow.

The water becomes calmer the deeper it goes
So its true depth to you it never really shows,
Hence the saying that still waters run deep
And in your head this fact you should keep.

Intelligence and a river are quite the same
For their depth neither needs to exclaim,
The deeper they are the less noise they make
To underestimate either would be a mistake.
