Over there in far Wuhan
They saw the virus spread
Marching inexorably onward
Leaving behind its many dead.
As though in a trance they
Seemed to watch it move on
In a state of indecision
Many inactive days gone.
The death toll growing
Ever more and more
Until it finally crossed
To invade our shore.
Seemingly more obsessed
With continuing trade
Very few decisions
Were actually made.
An open border policy
Allowed the virus to grow
As from across the world
Folk allowed to come and go.
The death toll rising
Until finally lockdown came
Though bending the rules
Seemed to be the elite's game.
U-turns, more indecision,
Policy changes by the day
Drifting along in
A seeming aimless way.
With the NHS struggling
100,00 dead one year on
Business in ruins
Many jobs now gone.
Hopefully the vaccine
Will stop Covid by and by
It really now is a case of
we succeed or more die.
In this modern day
The world is growing small,
Nowadays even Wuhan is
Not so remote after all.
