A New Leaf's Smile
' a letter to his children'
 Jessie-playing-guitar
Know that I will hold your hand
Should I succumb and pass
I’ll ‘keep you close, watch over you
And guard you like your glass
Inching toward the light of love
I know God holds my hand
I am not sad, I am not scared
   I hope you understand
I’ve lived enough, ‘I’m tired
I hurt most everyday
I want to walk where he prepares
On earth ‘I’m old and frayed
Precious is his sight
Where colors bloom with joy
I want to run like once ‘carefree
Like when I was a boy
If you love me as you say
Then use that love to grow
Pass it on to generations
Let love be what you sow
If you should find a new leaf’s smile
Keep it in your heart
Keep it, ‘guard it, ‘for all its worth
Love it from the start
You’ll ‘find me in that leaf
I’ll, ‘find you in their heart
You’ll ‘always be with me
Even when worlds apart

A poem for my cousin,
'Jessie Ortega'
