Let love be genuine, Abhor what is evil; Continue discipline, Resisting the devil. Hold fast to what is good, Loving one another; Doing just as you should, For sister and brother. Be not slothful in zeal, Be fervent in spirit; Serving God to appeal, Whatever in merit. Be constant in your prayer, As you rejoice in hope; Patience not to despair, In trials that you cope. Contribute to the needs, Show hospitality; For the saints in your deeds, Through your ability. Bless those who persecute, Bless but do not curse them; Debate not to dispute, Rather let God condemn. Rejoice when one is glad, Weep with those who would weep; Comfort those who are sad, Sharing with what you reap. Live in peace and concord, Never to be haughty; Humbleness in the Word, Never being naughty. Be not wise in your sight, Avenge not with evil; Keep walking in the light, Never wishing ill-will. Subdue evil with good, Live peaceably with all; Performing as you should, Give ice a chance to thaw. Copyright © 2021 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
