The Backyard Of My Life

Beautiful Bird With A Broken Wing

Shes got something in her shoes
That's keeping her from walking
Shes got something on her mind
That's stopping her from dreaming
I've seen her emotional scars the damage done
While she was waiting for a bell to ring
A beautiful bird at my window with a broken wing
Skylark singing a slow sad song
Wonders where it all went wrong
Girl don't let it bring you down you will fly again

The tears she cried in a sea of glass
Washed up in the waves of hope
With a message in a bottle tied to a little ship
Shes into deep drowning in sleep
Pretending that she doesn't know a thing
A beautiful bird of paradox at my doorstep with a broken wing
Jenny wren whispers a quiet calling
At the break of day in first light of morning
Caught up in the chains of the sky
You better get yourself together girl

Life is a mystery the world can be so tough
You never listen when i speak i think I've had enough
Meet me at the blue bridge over memory lane
Don't keep me waiting in the falling rain

Shes laughing like an angel
With sorrow in her heart halo round her head
Holding yesterdays papers and tomorrows plans
Clutching buckets of moonbeams in her hands
While preaching from some book that she found
Writing love letters to heaven a bow made of string
A beautiful bird in my bedroom with a broken wing
The owl and the nightingale love don't last long
Burning like a phoenix then she was gone
Shes somebody's child somebody's passion
She threw it all away like it was going out of fashion

Shes got one more cup of coffee for the road
Carrying her life in a suitcase
While the sands of time slip away
Don't look back i heard her say
What will it cost you to wear the crown Mr sun king
A beautiful bird on my windowsill with a broken wing
Red red robin a cuckoos cry
Like a lost forgotten lullaby
Girl don't let it bring you down you will fly again
Girl don't let it bring you down you will fly again
Girl don't let it bring you down you will fly again
