"I See You"

There you are I see you now,
I missed you while you were gone my friend,
I have so much to tell you now that you're here,
A tale of something that became my life,
I looked in every corner in every high and low,
I searched in places across the seas and sands,
Every step I made became another page and chapter I turned through,
A novel would still fall short of the truth to the tale,
My friend the places I've been only to find emptiness,
Once I heard a myth that the heart is full when it's where it belongs,
Is that why I can start to break free of what has burden me,
Tip toeing outside the circle that could hold me in peace,
Lurking outside too afraid to step inside,
Too afraid of the love and hope glowing inside waiting,
My friend the souls I've protected in love are precious to me,
However, what scares me the most is getting too close,
For my wings are already scorched,
Life has taken us to different corners and different lives,
Now my friend the years have slipped away and times changed,
There you stand before me in different shades,
Oh it feels good to smile and laugh but things aren't the same,
Years have changed some to opposite of who once existed,
My friend life has become funny that way,
I see you now and I see your soul,
I've missed you my friend it's been a long time,
I see you and I hope you never disappear again,
Because I need you here with me.
