Poetic Verses
True Humility
The Lord taught true humility
And the need for us to serve
Our fellow man less fortunate
His dignity to preserve.
He did so by example
The skeptic to defeat
When He before a dubious crowd
Humbly washed the disciples' feet.
Oh, what a marvelous lesson
Yet a hard one to employ
To think that serving others would
Bring sure and boundless joy.
But the pride of life gets in the way
Which is really nothing new
Though it wouldn't hurt a few of us
To wash a foot or two!
And the need for us to serve
Our fellow man less fortunate
His dignity to preserve.
He did so by example
The skeptic to defeat
When He before a dubious crowd
Humbly washed the disciples' feet.
Oh, what a marvelous lesson
Yet a hard one to employ
To think that serving others would
Bring sure and boundless joy.
But the pride of life gets in the way
Which is really nothing new
Though it wouldn't hurt a few of us
To wash a foot or two!
