Poetic Verses
My Grace Suffices Thee
It was God who told the apostle Paul
My grace suffices thee
And that the fleshly barb for him
Would never cease to be.
I thought of my own yearning
For a few less pain-filled days
But then recalled that God once said
My ways are not your ways.
Still, I began to wonder why
He would not grant relief
Though my pleadings were in earnest
Even for a respite brief.
But then I knew the grace of God
Also suffices me
And that, like Paul, my fleshly barb
Will never cease to be.
My grace suffices thee
And that the fleshly barb for him
Would never cease to be.
I thought of my own yearning
For a few less pain-filled days
But then recalled that God once said
My ways are not your ways.
Still, I began to wonder why
He would not grant relief
Though my pleadings were in earnest
Even for a respite brief.
But then I knew the grace of God
Also suffices me
And that, like Paul, my fleshly barb
Will never cease to be.
