Poetic Verses
God Is the Anchor
When the storms of life come rolling in
and rip apart our sails,
we need an anchor that will hold
against the strongest gales.
Those winds can gust unmercifully
and drive us to our knees,
for which the pessimist might say
misfortune comes in threes.
Be it luck, poor choice, or providence,
we seek to understand
why bad things happen to the just,
quite abruptly and unplanned.
But though strong swells bring miseries
most of which we don't foresee,
there is a respite only found
in the Christ of Calvary.
So, when those storms come rolling in
as assuredly they will do,
don't forget God is the anchor
Who will not abandon you.
and rip apart our sails,
we need an anchor that will hold
against the strongest gales.
Those winds can gust unmercifully
and drive us to our knees,
for which the pessimist might say
misfortune comes in threes.
Be it luck, poor choice, or providence,
we seek to understand
why bad things happen to the just,
quite abruptly and unplanned.
But though strong swells bring miseries
most of which we don't foresee,
there is a respite only found
in the Christ of Calvary.
So, when those storms come rolling in
as assuredly they will do,
don't forget God is the anchor
Who will not abandon you.
