Great Transition

The devil had him on the ropes
A common human flaw
Which made him act as one inclined
To live by his own law.

Yesterday, he would have sworn an oath
He would never fall away
But later came to realize
That he had gone astray.

He hadn't really understood
The depth of his demise
Until he let God have His way
And open up his eyes.

Oh, what a great transition
Through God's redeeming grace
That he could be made whole again
His past sins to erase.

But anyone can have this
It's not some mystery
For God would have us all be saved
And live eternally.

Yes, the devil surely had him
When he was thus inclined
But now he has a lively hope
And wondrous peace of mind.
